One of the most exciting aspects of being a designer is the creation process. It can also be the most challenging. About five years ago I felt that I was in a creative rut so decided to mix it up and move my studio to Los Angeles. After three years of working from the studio, in the new up and coming art district Hel-Mel, my design partner and I decided to move our creative space to an old greenhouse located on the coast of Santa Barbara California.

The space is amazing! Open views, plenty of landscape, a private beach… there is even a greenhouse with animals in it… I have fallen in love with an Alpaca named Pichu.  While it can get a little warm at times the pro’s outweigh the cons.

What do we work on in the greenhouse? Well, mostly our wallpaper designs for Parker Barrow Creative, as well as custom furniture… but this last year has been the most fun as we have been working on a line of furniture and accessories with the amazing team at Mobilia. We collaborate over skype and I have been able to travel to Montreal a ton this last year (which I love) to work with the Mobilia team.

When it came time to photograph the new collection, Sophie Ohayon (she leads the brand experience at Mobilia) had the brilliant idea to shoot the collection in the greenhouse and on the property. What came next was a bit of a mission. Prototypes and samples were shipped from around the world. Then came the travel for the Mobilia team (some coming in from as far as Paris). Santa Barbara was also in a heat wave, so we were all very toasty!

On the day of the photo shoot, the location, furniture and accessories came to life. The collection features many mirrored elements, from a dressing screen to a coffee table- these elements shot so beautiful in the rustic setting. High-end glamorous pieces sparkled in the unique setting. The team was thrilled. I love seeing furniture and accessories in an unintended light and location and what we created was really magical. I am getting very excited to share it all with you.

To me design, furniture, the home… it is all a backdrop to creating moments that lead to memories, cherished memories… memories that twinkle in your minds eye. Working on this collection, seeing it photographed in the location it was born—is and always will be one of the highlights of my life. This collection tells a story of carefree times and experience… I hope when this collection arrives in your home that experience and joy of design is transferred to you.
